Guangzhou Digital Currency 2.0 Plan Released: Explore and Promote the Use of Digital RMB as a Unified Payment Method for Prepaid Payments in the City

the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of Finance recently issued the "Action Plan for Further Promoting the Work of Guangzhou Digital RMB" (referred to as "DigiRMB 2.0 Plan"). The "Action Plan" clarifies the main tasks of the pilot work in seven aspects. First, further play the functional role of member units of the Guangzhou Digital RMB Working Leading Group. Each unit will develop innovative and promotional digital RMB application scenarios around its respective management areas, and implement no less than one application scenario in its respective management areas. Second, explore and promote digital RMB as the unified payment method for prepaid services in the city. Third, vigorously build various digital RMB application demonstration areas. Fourth, further enrich and improve the application scenarios of digital RMB in the transportation sector. Fifth, promote innovative digital RMB application scenarios in the Hong Kong and Macau maritime and aviation fields. Sixth, actively promote the application of digital RMB in cross-border payment and other businesses. Actively promote the participation of digital RMB operating agencies and related enterprises in the pilot testing of multilateral central bank digital currency bridge in the Guangzhou area. The digital RMB application will be implemented on the Guangzhou Commodity Exchange's commodity trading platform and the Guangzhou Shipping Trading Company's Guangzhou Shipping Trading Platform. Seventh, vigorously enhance the industrial foundation of digital RMB.
