On December 10th, it was announced that the cryptocurrency-themed film "Crypto Man," directed by South Korean director Hyun Hae-ri, will be released on January 15th, 2025. The film is based on a real cryptocurrency crash that caused over 500 trillion Korean won (approximately 34.9 billion U.S. dollars) in losses, and stars the late actor Song Jae-rim.

The movie tells the story of the protagonist Yang Do-hyeon (played by Song Jae-rim), who after experiencing multiple failed startups, successfully launches the cryptocurrency "MOMMY" with his friends, but then faces regulatory scrutiny. It is reported that the film has undergone strict legal consultation and will present the current life situation of young Koreans who "trade stocks during the day and cryptocurrencies at night" in a black comedy format.

According to Upbit data, as of the end of 2023, there were a total of 3,759 cryptocurrency millionaires in South Korea, with investors in their 20s holding an average of 3.65 million U.S. dollars in digital assets.
