Will Donald Trump Fire Fed Chairman Jerome Powell? He Gave His Answer
US President-elect Donald Trump spoke about the fate of FED Chairman Jerome Powell in his statement.
In a recent interview with Kirsten Welker on NBC, President-elect Donald Trump confirmed that he has no plans to replace Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell when he takes office in January.
Asked if he would ask Powell to resign, Trump replied: “No, I don’t think so. I think if I told him, he would resign. But if I asked him to resign, he might not.”
The comments mark a shift from speculation during Trump’s campaign about possible clashes with the Fed over monetary policy. Powell’s tenure has been marked by debates over inflation and interest rate adjustments, which Trump has previously criticized.
Trump reiterated his campaign promise to impose tariffs on imports from the U.S.'s largest trading partners, a cornerstone of his economic policy aimed at protecting American manufacturing, but acknowledged uncertainties about the potential consequences for consumers.
Asked if he could guarantee that American families would not face higher prices because of the tariffs, Trump said: “I can't guarantee anything. I can't guarantee tomorrow.”
