Former Coinbase CTO: Visa and Mastercard and other tech giants have received threats of "censorship" due to their relationship with Libra
the impact of Operation Chokepoint 2.0 has expanded from the cryptocurrency industry to technology giants such as Visa and Mastercard. Balaji Srinivasan, former CTO of Coinbase, shared a screenshot of a letter sent by US legislators to Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe urging them to withdraw their support for the Libra project backed by Meta.
Previously, it was reported that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was involved in killing the Libra project, as disclosed by former Meta cryptocurrency executive David Marcus.
Balaji shared an excerpt from a letter sent by Senators Brian Schatz and Sherrod Brown to multiple financial technology giants, threatening to "review" Visa and all payment service providers associated with the project. He said that the "review" of unrelated activities sends a signal to regulatory agencies that "fabricate violations and impose fines until the target surrenders".
