On November 5th, according to CNN, the "red mirage" refers to the phenomenon where the Republican Party initially leads on election night, but due to the counting of mail-in ballots, the Democratic Party takes the lead in the evening or a few days later. Trump has used this phenomenon to accuse election fraud, but it is actually due to mail-in voting and various state counting rules. In 2020, Biden's lead in Georgia did not become apparent until the early morning of November 6th, and in 2016, Hillary also experienced a similar shift in popular vote numbers but did not change the result. Each state must complete election certification by December 11, 2024 at the latest.
