Key Takeaways
- Bitget announced a new partnership with the Spanish soccer league control body LaLiga.
- Bitget and LaLiga emphasize the importance of fostering a positive and constructive environment in the crypto world.
- The future of Bitget’s partnership with Lionel Messi remains uncertain.
Bitget, a leading crypto exchange, has announced a strategic partnership with LaLiga , the controlling body of Spanish soccer’s top league.
The deal positions Bitget as the official crypto partner of LaLiga, giving the company access to a massive global audience of soccer fans.
Bitget’s New Deal With LaLiga
By joining forces with LaLiga, Bitget gains a massive platform to reach new users and promote its exchange as well as the crypto industry.
LaLiga, featuring powerhouses like Real Madrid and Barcelona, is the second most followed soccer league in Europe, providing a massive audience for Bitget to tap into.
The partnership is reportedly worth millions and will last up to three years.
Bitget emphasized that it hopes the promotion will boost crypto adoption and open more avenues for Web3 technology.
The partnership is also part of a larger trend of crypto companies and crypto sponsorships returning to the beautiful game.
In August, Crypto.com and UEFA Champions League, club soccer’s most watched competition, inked a three-year deal.
Aligning Core Missions
LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Bitget CEO Gracy Chen expressed enthusiasm for the partnership.
Chen emphasized that the partnership transcends mere commercial interests, aligning with the core missions of both LaLiga and Bitget: “Make It Count,” a reflection of their shared sporting spirit and values.
Tebas highlighted the growth potential in the crypto space within emerging markets like the sports industry.
“Over the last decade, digitalization and innovation have been among the priorities of LaLiga. Last season, we made it a priority under the aegis of our new era, which emphasized technology: we want to be pioneers and we are committed to doing so,” Tebas said.
Future of Messi’s Contract
With the ink now dry on the Bitget-LaLiga partnership, attention turns to the future of Bitget’s collaboration with soccer superstar Lionel Messi .
“We have not yet decided how the partnership with Lionel Messi will evolve. But the agreement with LaLiga is slightly better on the economic front. And it gives us much more freedom and deeper collaborations. We can now invite some of the most famous footballers to participate in our events, including Kylian Mbappé,” Bitget said.
Messi isn’t a stranger to the crypto industry. The World Cup winner has promoted a few projects of his own, including the Solana-based tokens TIME and WATER.
Although Messi’s involvement briefly sparked some activity, both TIME and WATER tokens have since plummeted by at least 70% at press time, highlighting the fleeting nature of celebrity-driven hype.
