Beosin: Total losses from hacking, phishing scams and rug pulls in May reached $154 million
According to Beosin Alert, a blockchain security audit company, the amount of losses from various security incidents increased in May 2024 compared to April. In May 2024, there were more than 27 typical security incidents, causing a total loss of $154 million due to hacker attacks, phishing scams, and Rug Pull, an increase of about 52.5% from April. Among them, the attack incident was about $54.51 million, an increase of about 3.7%; the phishing scam incident was about $97.4 million, an increase of about 754%; and the Rug Pull incident was about $2.04 million, a decrease of about 94.5%. This month, there were two hacker attacks with losses exceeding $10 million: Gala Games lost $22.5 million due to private key leakage, and Sonne Finance lost $20 million due to a contract loophole. The number of phishing scams increased significantly this month, with several phishing incidents causing losses of over a million dollars, including one that caused a loss of $72 million due to address poisoning scams. This month, the number of cryptocurrency crime cases continued to increase, with several cases involving amounts exceeding $100 million.
