FTX Creditors File Victim Impact Statements Ahead of Sam Bankman-Fried Sentencing
The Department of Justice has submitted numerous victim impact statements from FTX creditors in support of the sentencing memo for Sam Bankman-Fried. The statements reveal that the 2022 collapse of FTX has had a significant impact on the financial security and emotional well-being of its creditors. Some of the victims were unemployed due to health issues and relied on the funds they stored in FTX. The victim impact statements were filed just after the DOJ submitted its sentencing memorandum recommending that Bankman-Fried serve 40 to 50 years in prison for his conviction on seven different fraud and conspiracy charges. Bankman-Fried's sentencing is scheduled for March 28.
