Layer 2 project Taiko launches the final test network Katla, and the main network is expected to be released at the end of the first quarter
Taiko, an Ethereum Layer 2 project based on zkRollup, has launched its final test and released Katla. Its mainnet is expected to go live at the end of the first quarter of 2024. Katla is Taiko developers' sixth Taiko testnet and introduces a new rollup design called a multi-proof-based competitive rollup. This combines elements of Optimistic and ZK-rollups and is expected to benefit decentralized applications that require high throughput and cost efficiency. Taiko Labs raised $22 million through two rounds of financing earlier, with the first round being a $10 million seed round led by Sequoia China in 2022 and the second round being a $12 million Pre-A round led by Generative Ventures in 2023.
