Sotheby’s announces its first Bitcoin Ordinals art auction
On December 7th, according to Blockworks report, Sotheby's digital art department announced that it will auction works from the BitcoinShrooms project designed by anonymous artist Shroomtoshi. The auction will take place from December 6th to 13th, and there are currently three works available for bidding. The series includes two mushroom individuals and a pixelated avocado seed, named BIP39 - the common standard for creating seed phrases. These three works are expected to sell for approximately $20,000 to $30,000, but the auction house also accepts cryptocurrency bids. Michael Bouhanna, head of Sotheby's digital art, announced that this art auction will mark the first time Sotheby's has sold Ordinals artwork.
