Paris criminal court may have dismissed charges against Platypus hacker and released him in court
User X @VCharpiat informed blockchain detective ZachXBT that "the Paris Criminal Court has rejected the charges against Platypus hackers, and the relevant personnel have been released in court. The judge basically said that 'French criminal law does not technically prohibit hacker attacks on protocols.' This is very disappointing, and I hope the prosecutor can appeal as soon as possible."
The user also stated that the Platypus official has been informed of this. In addition, the hacker claimed to be a white hat and planned to return the funds to the protocol. Their attack was to protect the protocol from North Korean attacks. However, the judge did not believe their excuse as a white hat and stated that it obviously looked like fraud, but it did not belong to the type of fraud prohibited by criminal law.
Earlier in October, the Avalanche ecology stablecoin trading project Platypus Finance was hacked, with losses exceeding 2.2 million US dollars. In early November, blockchain detective ZachXBT stated that the attacker of Platypus Finance was suspected of being sentenced to five years in France.
