What is a "Verification Ad" and How to Use It?

Bitget P2P recently launched a new feature allowing merchants to post ads that require additional verification. Verifying the sources of funds or conducting identity verification before accepting funds into one's bank account is a common practice. This feature aims to provide extra layers of protection for both merchants and users. Currently, this feature is available only to our whitelisted merchants. Below is a comprehensive tutorial to guide you through this new feature.

How to post a "Verification ad"?

• P2P merchants will find an "Order acceptance" section when posting a Sell ad (orders displayed on the Sell page). You can enable this new feature in the highlighted section below.

Note: This example is for the web version, and the app view may vary slightly.

What does a "Verification ad" do?

For sellers: You can require extra materials from buyers to verify their identity or the sources of their funds. If the buyer fails to provide the required materials, you can reject the order without affecting your completion rate.

Important tips for sellers:

• We recommend setting a longer payment time limit (30 minutes or more).

• Clearly state the required verification materials in advance, as these will be displayed to buyers.

• Buyers will not be able to view your payment details until you confirm you're satisfied with the verification materials.

For buyers: You will be required to upload additional materials, which may include, but are not limited to, a photo ID, a selfie with your photo ID, a bank statement, an address proof, etc., through the P2P chatbox. The seller may reject your order if the materials are not satisfactory.

Important tips for buyers:

• Look for the "T&C" tag under the P2P ad, as this indicates an order that requires additional verifications (see example in the 1st image below).

• Carefully read the pop-up window and do not confirm if you're not ready to provide all the listed materials (see examples in the 2nd and 3rd images below). If needed, cancel to avoid affecting your completion rate.

• You won't be able to view the seller's payment details until you upload the required materials and the seller confirms the order.

• Have your documents ready before proceeding with any T&C order to avoid timeouts.

How to complete a verification ad?

For sellers:

Step 1: Select all the additional materials you wish to collect for this order. Note that there is a maximum limit for the materials you can request, and this may vary depending on the fiat currency.

Step 2: Post your Sell order as usual and stay online. When buyers confirm they wish to proceed with the order, they will be prompted to upload the materials you selected in the chatbox. Check the documents and decide if they meet your satisfaction. If they do, click Take order, and your payment details will be released to the buyer after your confirmation. If the materials are insufficient, you can reject the order without affecting your completion rate.

Step 3: After confirming the order, the buyer will proceed with the payment as usual and will notify you once the payment is completed. Please check your bank account to ensure you've received the exact order amount before releasing the tokens.

For buyers:

Step 1: Carefully check if the order you selected to "Buy" has a "T&C" tag. Confirm the pop-up notification when you're ready to provide the additional identity verification documents to the seller. You can still cancel the order at this stage without affecting your completion rate.

Step 2: After confirming, a pop-up window will display the exact materials requested by the seller. Please prepare all the documents now and only confirm when you have them ready on your device.

Step 3: Upload all required documents to the chatbox and notify the seller once you've done so. The seller will check your materials and decide whether to accept the order or not.

If the seller is not satisfied with the submitted materials, the order will be rejected, and you can go back to the P2P marketplace to find a different trading counterparty.

If the seller is satisfied with the materials, you will be able to view the seller's bank account or other payment details. Complete the transaction and share your payment receipt in the chatbox if possible. Once the payment is made, click "Paid. Notify the other party." and wait for your tokens to be released.
